That being said, there is a brand called Algo* that I particularly like and which adapts to most situations. With a very good quality/price ratio, Algo paints offer characteristics similar to those of major brands while being more accessible. The icing on the cake is that it is an ecological range produced from recycled algae which has one of the lowest levels of pollution on the market. As this is a relatively new brand, we can simply blame a more restricted color chart than with other manufacturers.
If you are looking for a more high-end paint, you can look at Ressource which offers no less than 1000 colors on its color chart! The brand also partners with famous designers to create unique collections. Farrow & Ball is another recommendable brand, particularly popular with decorators. Interestingly, both of these brands offer wallpaper with designs that reflect some of their colors. This way you can add a touch of originality to your decoration and easily create a subtle and elegant color harmony.
To treat yourself with a high-end paint, go to Ressource or Farrow & Ball
Of course, there are many other quality brands. We can notably cite Blime, Argile or even Benjamin Moore. But regardless of the technical aspect, I encourage you above all to choose a brand whose universe matches your style of decoration. If possible, be sure to use only one brand of paint in your interior to create visual unity. And this even if you don’t start decorating all your rooms at the same time. Just keep it in the back of your mind so you can find it again a few months or years later.
How to apply your paint
To begin with, there is no point in wanting to repaint your walls if they are not in good condition. Otherwise, you will spend time and money and the result will be catastrophic! To carry out your work successfully, having a properly prepared healthy support is undoubtedly the most important factor. At a minimum, you should patch holes and cracks, then coat and sand the surface to be painted. Likewise, if your walls are damp, it is necessary to treat them to dry them out. Because when moisture is trapped, there is a good chance that your paint will eventually blister.
For optimal rendering of your painting, take care in preparing the support
Always with the idea of preparing your surface as best as possible, it is necessary to apply an undercoat. I really insist on this point because in practice, few people impose this rigor on themselves. The problem being that in the collective unconscious, it is an additional expense when it is exactly the opposite! The undercoat saves money because you consume less paint afterwards. Finally, note that an undercoat is generally white in color but it is sometimes tinted to ensure a better result with the finishing coats.
Concerning the actual painting, your mission will be to leave no traces. However, if painting a wall is within everyone’s reach, doing it properly already requires more skills. Concretely, you must first define the angles with a brush then apply the first layer by crossing the passes. Same for the second layer but this time without crossing. As with everything in life, there is no substitute for experience. Therefore, if you have the slightest doubt about your DIY skills, call a professional! This is still the best way to obtain a satisfactory result.
Good tools are essential to carry out quality work
Finally, to be sure of carrying out quality work, you must have the right equipment. As I often say: a good handyman is, above all, someone who has the right tools! Good news, the painter’s are quite inexpensive. You will need a plastic container, tape, brushes for highlighting and of course, a roller. Here, nothing obliges you to choose accessories from the same brand as your paint. On the other hand, make sure that the brushes and roller sleeves are adapted to your type of paint and the result you want to obtain.
